The Planning Department is responsible for all aspects of comprehensive planning. This responsibility includes the development of the City's long-range general plan, especially the decisions on land use and development. The Department provides assistance to the other City departments and local agencies in long and short-range planning efforts.
 

The information from the Planner's continuing activities with other departments and with citizens is often the first step in aiding the Planning Commission and the City Council in their evaluation of the use of land within the City of Poquoson.
