Police Officer

The City of Poquoson is seeking a full-time police patrol officer.  Applicants must be 21 years old, possess a VA driver’s license, have no criminal record, and be able to work shift work.  Current VA DCJS certification and prior experience are preferred, but the Department will provide training.  $32,279 plus benefits to start, with an additional $2,000 paid for current EMT certification.  Poquoson Application is required and will be accepted until May 18, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, at Poquoson Police Department, 774 Poquoson Avenue.  Applications are available at the City Manager’s Office, 500 City Hall Avenue, Poquoson, VA  23662     EOE

Library Associate/Computer Support Tech

The City of Poquoson is seeking a part-time, 24 hours per week with evening and weekend hours, Library Associate/Computer Support Tech starting June 4, 2012. Position maintains, assembles, and troubleshoots both hardware and software of 40+ computers and related equipment in the library. Plans and conducts computer classes, edits library newsletter, summer reading brochures, and other promotional materials for various events. Performs duties at circulation desk and provides reader's advisory services. Starting salary of $14.03/hr. Requires bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field with excellent communication, computer, and customer service skills.
