Fall Field Hockey Club

Fall Saturdays  8am-9:30am

This program is designed for  field hockey players to improve skills and  set up for game play.  Instruction of the fundamentals of field hockey will be emphasized.   Players will be divided by skill.  The first Saturday begins September 11, following Saturdays are September 18, 25, October, 9.

Grades 3-8 (Ages 7 and Up)

Registration is due  August 31, 2010.

Fencing Classes  Beginners

Learn the basics of fencing from proper stance, basic

defensive and offensive moves, scoring points, and proper protocols of the sport. Fencing is one of the best sports to teach hand and eye coordination as well as balance and timing. 

Open to ages 10 to Adult

Days/Times: Sundays  Beginning July 11

Class runs for 10 weeks; no class Labor Day Weekend

Times: 5-6pm Poquoson Primary School.

In order to measure and fit for equipment the first class will meet 4-6pm on July 11. Cost: $65 Program #102–pay to PPR with  registration.

Equipment Fee: $110. Please bring this fee to the first class to cover personal equipment purchase. The instructor will order each  student’s equipment to include proper jacket, foil (fencing sword), mask, and glove.  Instructor: Vicki Hanes  Minimum 4 participants.  Must pre-register at Poquoson Parks & Recreation. Deadline is July 7, 2010

Fencing Classes  Intermediate

For those who have successfully

completed the beginners class or can demonstrate suitable basic proficiency to the instructor. * In addition to continuing to hone basic skills, fencers will learn more complex footwork and blade work. General fencing rules will also be covered, to include referee hand signals. Dates: Sundays, July 11-Aug 22

Time: 6:00 – 7:00pm

Location: Poquoson Primary School Gym  Cost: $65 includes 8 sessions & fee includes membership dues to PFC (see below) for September. Deadline: July 7.

Ages 5-15              Boys and Girls

Learn anti-bullying tactics, proper self defense techniques, and karate, along with working on balance, flexibility and     physical development for coordination. Classes are 55 minutes in length and run on Mondays and Wednesdays - based on experience and age.      All Classes Located at: Poquoson Primary  5-8 years old  Time: 6-7pm    Over 8 years old 7-8pm  

Cost: Initial Registration fee is $6.    Every class you attend is only $6.  Pay as you attend class.  No uniform required.

 Program is progressive, and emphasizes safety, self respect, discipline, confidence and character.

This program is a 6 month training program and is an alternative to club soccer. Participants will be trained individually and collectively to prepare for the JV or Varsity level of play. The four pillars of the game will be covered (technical, tactical, psychological and physical components). Training will be offered two times a week from August thru mid February (the start of the Spring High School season). Locations will vary: Turf, HS Field, Gym, and park space. Registering commits for entire session.

Must have minimum of 8 participants. Anticipated nights of instruction will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-6pm weekly.

 

 

 

 

Designed for the youth soccer enthusiast

                                (Ages 6-9)

This is a three month program that will meet Wednesdays 4-5 pm after Labor Day and is

designed for the youth soccer enthusiast ages 6-9. This developmental experience is designed to

engage and develop confidence in young players while training them to meet the demands of the sport of soccer. Players will participate in interactive sessions that teach developmental skills that are age appropriate for their cognitive and physical abilities. Utilizing small game situations of no more than 4 to a given activity/team will maximize ball touches, awareness and activity. The atmosphere will be fun while emphasizing key fundamentals at this

developmental stage of sport play as they grow their skills for future play.
