POQUOSON POOL INFORMATION:
Open Recreational Swimming As Part of Phase 3
The operational procedures to conduct open swimming require our operations to limit normal capacity, maintain 10 feet of physical distancing both in the water and on the deck at all times, and perform additional required sanitation during open swimming operations. These requirements will change our normal and traditional operations for Open Swim activities.
As always our goal is to provide a safe swimming experience and now while following the mandatory and operational procedures established by Governor Northam's Phase 3 requirements.
Patrons should note that there will be limited walk-in opportunities, and we will begin a sign up process posted here in an effort to better serve more people and limit waiting and disappointment in the event that the pool reaches capacity.
Please read through the below information so you have a safe and convenient experience when you come to the pool for open swim.
Open Swim will operate in 2 Time Sessions per day with a 15 minute Break/Adult Swim at the half way mark of each session. Both weekdays and weekends will accommodate 2 sessions of open swim. In an effort to provide an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the pool and allow us to serve as many residents as possible we ask that patrons only register for one session per day.
Mondays thru Fridays- 11am-2pm (session 1) and 2:30-5:30pm (session 2)
Saturdays & Sundays 12noon-3pm (Session 1) and 3:30-6:30pm (session 2)
Note: In the event of a swim meet some days will not have a second session listed on the online signup listing.
Each day we will typically offer 2 open swim sessions per day for on-line registrations unless there is a necessary change in the schedule due to a special event or activity. We realize that the ease of Walk-In attendance is a very convenient service we were able to offer in the past.
Each reservation time session is limited to 65 patrons. When reserving your time be sure to put the names of your entire group on the form as every person must be accounted for in our capacity numbers.
Reservations Operations: Reservations will open 2 days at 8am. Reservations for each day will close at 8am on the reserving day.So for example: To Swim on July 1 Reservations will open on June 29 at 8am and will close at 8am July 1.
Please plan to attend your reserved time during the first 30 minutes. Once we have completed this first 30 minutes of the session, we will allow walk-ins on a space-available basis, and your space will be given to those in the Walk-In line. After the first 30 minutes you will be considered a no-show for your reservation.
Arriving: We ask that you show up no earlier than 5 minutes prior to your reservation time in an effort to minimize standing in line. Please use the colored dots to form the line outside the gate 10 ft apart. Once you arrive your party will be asked to complete a health screen for each individual (both adults and children- by their guardian). Additionally every patron will be asked to complete our admittance waiver for everyone in your party including children and adults each time you arrive.
Staff will take your temperature upon entry, with a touch free thermometer. If you are sick or show signs of illness you will not be admitted, in an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
We appreciate your patience as you arrive.
Walk-Ins: This option will be very limited. Reservations are highly encouraged. If you choose not to make an online reservation, the walk-in option will be available; however this will not begin until 30 minutes after the start of the open swim session. The walk-in line if the session does not reach capacity online or if there is a no-show will then be accommodated. Waiting in line in the walk-in line does not guarantee you a spot. After the first 30 minutes, if we cannot accommodate you please do not remain at the gate. We cannot replace you with someone who leaves during the session.
New This Year: Children are required to be accompanied by their parents or guardians.
All children ages 14 and under must attend open swim with a parent or guardian while at the pool. Parents and guardians are critical to assisting with helping us to maintain physical distancing for our youngest patrons.
While Swimming this Summer please note the following:
All usual safety pool rules and operations will apply. In accordance with Phase 3 requirements we ask that all patrons physically distance of 10 feet. Please help us keep this space for both staff and all other patrons.
To stop the spread, patrons are encouraged to bring your own chairs. And we welcome them, but please take them home. At this time chaise lounges will not be on the deck during open swim operations. In an effort to promote physical distancing shade tents are not placed on the deck at this time. We will only have limited picnic table space and they are limited to 1 table per family.
Upon entry your family group is encouraged to choose a colored circle on the deck for your chairs and personal items location. These circles are placed 10 feet apart to encourage physical distancing.
For those who do not have a chair, but still may need a spot to place your personal items we will provide patrons with a sanitized tub that can be used for areas on the deck for storage of towels, goggles, etc. during this time. We ask that once you leave, to please return the tub to the office area, and we will make sure that it is cleaned and sanitized ready for the next user.
The Baby Pool will not be open at this time.
Please bring your payment with you to Check-in. We take both Cash and Checks. Credit cards are not accepted at the gate.

Times are available on weekday mornings, and you will have the same weekday morning time all 4 days Monday-Thursday. Friday will serve as a weather make up.
