Enter Your Gingerbread House into the City Wide Gingerbread House Contest. Great Prizes!
Teams or individuals welcome to enter.Houses may be constructed using base kits. All materials in the construction process must be edible. Candies must be unwrapped. Entries should show originality and creativity. All entries must be dropped off at the Municipal Building at 830 Poquoson Ave. by 12noon December 7, 2018.Once the judging is complete the Community Recreation Office will display them at the holiday open house at the Poquoson Public Library on December 9.
Hoop It Up Basketball
Ages 4-6 Together parent and child will learn passing, dribbling, and shooting skills. This program is not a league experience but an interactive skills program designed to teach the skills of basketball using fun games. Each player receives a junior basketball as part of the program. Open to boys and girls. Each player needs a parent present at each session ready to participate. Kid’s Gingerbread House Workshop
Ages 6-13 Students will decorate their own Gingerbread House made of Gingerbread! We will provide ALL of the candy and icing for construction! All houses are completely edible so you can make a perfect centerpiece for the holidays! Please note any food allergies with registration. All Gingerbread Houses decorated are taken home. Participants are asked to please tie back long hair & bring an apron. Holiday Cookie Shop
Learn the techniques to decorate your holiday cookies for gift giving. This cookie workshop will allow you to create stockings, candy canes, bells and other holiday cookie shapes that will be your canvas for creativity. Learn techniques using buttercream icing with holiday colors and festive embellishments. Introduction to Pen & Ink Drawing
Ages 14 to Adult Working with line drawings, we will build our designs from doodles and sketches to finished art pieces. Exploring strokes, line consistency, pen control, elements of shading, gradations, and techniques for creating interesting textures including cross-hatching, stippling, and scribbling. Subject matter to include: floral and botanical, birds, and portraits. Holiday Glass Painting
Ages 13 to Adult Learn to paint on glassware and create your own holiday glass set or make items for gift giving! Learn several different holiday designs using One Stroke Painting techniques. Two glasses, two ornaments and two gift bags per student will be provided and participants are encouraged to wear a smock or painting clothes.
