Home Posted on January 30, 2026

The National Weather Service has forecasted a high probability for up to 6 inches of snow for our area, likely beginning Saturday afternoon and continuing through Sunday morning.

Wind gusts of up to 45mph are also possible during the event and through midday Sunday. Moderate tidal flooding is also expected during high tide on Sunday morning that could impact low lying areas, including flooded/icy roads.

The City of Poquoson, following the Governor’s Office, has declared a State of Emergency. Please prepare accordingly for your safety. Ensure items on your property such as trash/recycling cans are secured.

For those residents who live in low lying areas, parking will be open at South Lawson Park, (1224 Poquoson Ave), City Hall (500 City Hall Ave), and the former police station (774 Poquoson Ave)- though please note that clearing of roadways will be a priority over parking lots during and after the event.

We will continue to share updated forecasts from the National Weather Service on our website and social media as they are made available.
