TAKE NOTICE on May 26, 2020, the City Council of the City of Poquoson, Virginia will hold a public hearing for the purpose of receiving the views of the citizens of Poquoson with reference to filling two positions on the Poquoson School Board for the Central and Western Precincts. The incumbents in both precincts are eligible for reappointment. Anyone who is interested in serving on the School Board should complete a Board Bank application, which can be found on the front page of the City’s website. The completed application should be submitted to Evie Insley, City Clerk, prior to 4:30p.m. on May 26, 2020. If you are interested in serving and have a current application on file, please call 868-3000 to request your application be submitted at this Public Hearing. The Public Hearing will be held that evening to receive citizen input on those persons being considered for the appointments. The names of all persons who have submitted a Board Bank on/before 4:30p.m. on May 26, 2020 electronically, telephonically or by mail, will be read into the public record by the City Clerk at that Public Hearing. Only those persons named during this Public Hearing can be appointed.
Due to the current public health emergency, this City Council meeting will be held electronically/remotely. Public comments can be made in writing to the City Clerk at 500 City Hall Avenue, Poquoson, VA 23662 or email at: schoolboardappoint@poquoson-vagov until 4:30 p.m. on June 8, 2020. City Council will accept and place all public comments into the record. If the public health emergency ends prior to this date, City Council will return to in person, open public meetings, with regular procedures in effect. The meeting will be televised live on Cox Cable Channel 46, on Verizon Fios Channel 25 and City of Poquoson YouTube Channel.
