Poquoson Avenue Sidewalk Construction Project

City Seal Circular

The City of Poquoson is beginning a sidewalk construction project on Poquoson Avenue.  This is a VDOT-funded project.  City Council directed staff to create and implement this project to improve pedestrian safety between Poquoson Middle School and Cedar Road.

Work will include installing sidewalks and drainage features on the westerly side of Poquoson Avenue.  New crosswalks will be installed at the Poquoson Avenue/Little Florida Road intersection and at the Middle School.  Work will occur in the City right-of-way in from of your and your neighbors' homes.  The right of way green space located alongside the ditch will be cleared and graded to construct the sidewalk and to ensure yard drainage to the ditch is not blocked.  Impacted driveway aprons will also be replaced.

You will likely see surveyors and utility location workers operating along Poquoson Avenue next week.  We anticipate actual construction work will begin the week of May 10th.  You will be notified in advance by the contractor (M.K Taylor ) when work will be done in the right-of-way in from of your home.

If you have questions regarding this project, please contact .  Once construction begins, the City Inspector and his representative will be inspecting the work.  Concerns about the actual work can be directed to the City Engineer's office (868-3025) or to Public Works (868-3590).
